چکیده
Abstract The convective heat transfer and flow field characteristics through a backward-facing step (BFS) channel combined with corrugated wall is investigated numerically experimentally. Uniform flux applied on 200 mm of the downstream wall, while rest walls are considered isolated surfaces. range Reynolds number (Re) was between 5000 20,000. governing equations were solved using RNG k ? e turbulent model. effects wavelength amplitude height friction factor Nusselt studied. results indicated that fluid in BFS significantly enhanced increased friction. average increase rate experiment 40.7% 46.2% respectively. simulation comparable to experimental ones. According simulations, an 4 mm 20 mm has highest enhancement, reaching performance evaluation criterion 1.33 at Re.

متن کاملNumerical simulation of laminar to turbulent nanofluid flow and heat transfer over a backward-facing step
This paper presents a numerical study of heat transfer to turbulent and laminar Cu/water flow over a backward-facing step. Mathematical model based on finite volume method with a FORTRAN code is used to solve the continuity, momentum, energy and turbulence equations. Turbulence was modeled by the shear stress transport (SST) K–x Model. In this simulation, three volume fractions of nanofluid (0%...
متن کاملHeat Transfer to Laminar Flow over a Double Backward-Facing Step
Heat transfer and laminar air flow over a double backward-facing step numerically studied in this paper. The simulations was performed by using ANSYS ICEM for meshing process and using ANSYS fluent 14 (CFD) for solving. The k-ɛ standard model adopted with Reynolds number varied between 98.5 to 512 and three step height at constant heat flux (q=2000 W/m2). The top of wall and bottom of upstream ...

Numerical study of heat transfer and fluid flow over vertical double forward facing step were presented. The k-w model with finite volume method was employed to solve continuity, momentum, and energy equations. Different step heights were adopted for range of Reynolds number varied from 10000 to 40000, and range of temperature varied from 310K to 340 K. The straight side of duct is insulated wh...
متن کاملFluid Flow and Heat Transfer of Nanofluids over a Flat Plate with Conjugate Heat Transfer
The falling and settling of solid particles in gases and liquids is a natural phenomenon happens in many industrial processes. This phenomenon has altered pure forced convection to a combination of heat conduction and heat convection in a flow over a plate. In this paper, the coupling of conduction (inside the plate) and forced convection of a non-homogeneous nanofluid flow (over a flat plate) ...
